ATB: The Options

As you know, after July 1st, only students with a high school diploma, GED, or Home School Certification are eligible for Title IV funding, including Pell Grants.

These new eligibility requirements have caused schools to think outside the box when it comes to admitting students who lack the above credentials. Here’s what some of our clients are doing to continue enrolling students without the benefit of the ATB program:

  • Offer GED prep classes
  • Partner with an adult basic education program to move students toward GED completion
  • Provide their own student loans

Not all of these solutions will be right for every school, but with some creative thinking, many are finding ways to continue offering an excellent education to non-traditional students.

What is your school doing to help non high school graduates obtain an education and move into a new career?
